WestRock Company manufactures and sells paper and packaging solutions for the consumer and corrugated markets in North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The company operates through three segments: Corrugated Packaging, Consumer Packaging, and Land and Development. The Corrugated Packaging segment produces containerboards, corrugated sheets, corrugated packaging, and preprinted linerboards for consumer and industrial products manufacturers, and corrugated box manufacturer.
Engaging with WorkStep
Historically, WestRock’s HR team had been reliant on temp staffing for a majority of their production positions. Not only was this expensive, but it also led to high turnover resulting in a staffing deficit that seemed impossible to close.
WorkStep engaged with Jim Terry, Keri Bartlett, and their teams to understand current staffing shortages, candidate preferences, and their facility’s interview process. Together, a strategy was created to hire 20 or more employees per month. WorkStep was able to provide qualified candidates daily that had previous production experience with stable work history resulting in a continual reduction in Westrock's need for temp agencies. The automation of intelligent applicant screening and self-scheduled interviews led to less time investment and overhead than any of their previous solutions.
Now that the partnership between the two companies has proven scalable success in multiple markets, there is a joint effort cross-functionally amongst Talent Acquisition and Human Resources to deploy WorkStep nationwide to challenged facilities.
