RESOURCES Driving innovation for enterprises: introducing WorkStep’s July 2024 release

A startup built for enterprise orgs

WorkStep’s mission is to make the frontline a better place to work, and we serve large enterprise organizations with thousands of frontline employees. Our unique focus on frontline populations, local action taking, direct communication channels, and deep people analytics make us the best choice for large organizations with a majority frontline workforce. We are laser focused on building the best experience for our users – and ultimately, for all frontline employees – and this includes how we plan and execute our product development.

Quarterly release cycles

As a startup, we know that an advantage our customers experience by choosing us is that we innovate quickly and deliver more value, often. Through deep discovery with our existing customers, we know that large organizations want both innovation and predictability. As a result, we have modified our product development and release strategy. Beginning this summer, we are introducing a quarterly release schedule. Each quarter we will release a set of features focused on one or several key themes including: intuitive user experience, greater user controls, and driving local leadership development.

Introducing July 2024 release

This summer we are excited to share our first quarterly release, which focuses on more intuitive user experiences and clearer differentiation in survey types. Read on to learn more about these exciting improvements and watch our walkthrough video to see everything in action.

A new Communication hub

WorkStep’s 1:1 and 1:many communication features are among the most used functionality in our platform – and for good reason – workers who receive direct responses to feedback deemed high priority are 28% less likely to turnover in the next 90 days. Today we are excited to unveil the new Communication page in our main navigation, where users can access all their tools to close the loop with their frontline teammates. Within the Communication page, users’ comments inbox has some new feature enhancements including the ability to filter, review alerts, and export comments by Survey type, full text keyword search of all comments, and a new Alert Management widget.

Clearer in-platform naming

As a part of our effort to make WorkStep as user-friendly as possible, we have made changes to our in-platform naming conventions to be more immediately clear. This includes updates such as changing Check-ins to Surveys and Responsiveness to Response Rate. For a complete list of the naming changes, please see our knowledge base article.

Extracting Exit survey data from aggregate data

WorkStep is based on the philosophy that getting feedback from your frontline during specific employment milestones is the key to understanding their journey, improving their experience, and delivering insights that lead to taking the right actions in the right place. We had considered Exit surveys part of this holistic journey and included data from those surveys in the same calculations as data from active employees. Looking closely at that data however, has shown us that Exit survey data is extremely unique from active employee data, and we felt it was important to represent it separately. Starting today, we will no longer include Exit survey response data in our favorability calculations, Insights, or Opportunities. Exit survey data will be available as a stand-alone set of data available both from the Surveys page in the main navigation as well as in Reports. Users will also be able to filter just for Exit survey comments in their Inbox by using our new Survey type filter.

A new Usage page in the main navigation

Our final update in this release is a new Usage page. This page pulls Alert Management stats from our Feedback page to their own area of the platform. We have also added an Active Users tab for admins, where they will be able to view the last active day of other WorkStep users at their company. We look forward to continuing to develop more features around platform usage in the future.

Our Fall quarterly release is planned for October. In that release we’ll continue to focus on creating more intuitive in-platform experiences for all WorkStep users, as well as features that provide more in-platform control including Point In Time Survey creation.
